As the Brand Manager and Media Consultant for the Ebony Anglers, I led a comprehensive effort to establish and maintain the team's branding, media presence, and operational success. The Ebony Anglers is an award-winning deep-sea fishing team made up of African American women who are dedicated to promoting diversity in the sport while inspiring communities through fishing, conservation, and leadership. My work spanned a broad scope, ensuring consistency and professionalism across all platforms and initiatives.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities:
Team Branding:
Developed a cohesive visual identity for the team, ensuring branding consistency across all platforms. This included designing team uniforms, creating marketing decks, and producing branded press releases that communicated our story and mission to a broad audience.
Media Production & Social Media Management:
Captured high-quality on-the-boat and off-the-boat media content to highlight the team’s achievements and activities.
Managed social media campaigns for collaborations with brands such as Columbia, Wrangler, and others, showcasing the team’s values and appeal to a diverse audience.
Grew the team’s social media presence and ensured branding consistency, resulting in securing a verified blue check for our accounts before the feature became a paid service.
E-Commerce & Merchandising:
Designed and launched the Ebony Anglers website, integrating drop-shipping capabilities using Printful. This streamlined our merchandise sales and provided a new revenue stream for the team through branded apparel and gear.
Non-Profit Development & Youth Programs:
Wrote and successfully secured a grant for the Ebony Anglers Foundation, the team’s non-profit arm.
Collaborated with the National Parks Foundation (NPF) to administer youth programs, including the Black Girls Fish and Black Boys Boat summer camps, which introduced underserved youth to fishing, conservation, and leadership.
Operational & Administrative Leadership:
As the team’s Secretary, I handled internal communications, administrative functions, and external stakeholder relationships.
Created presentations and marketing decks to secure partnerships and sponsorships.
Managed ongoing grant administration and reporting to ensure compliance and continued funding.
Outcomes:
Secured partnerships with major brands such as Columbia and Wrangler, increasing the team’s visibility and industry influence.
Established a revenue-generating e-commerce platform that supported the team’s operational goals.
Grew the Ebony Anglers’ social media following and credibility, earning a verified status on platforms.
Expanded access to youth fishing programs, directly engaging and inspiring future generations in conservation and leadership.
